1.The Natya Shastra
is an ancient Indian
treatise on the performing arts, encompassing theatre,
dance and music. It was written during the period
between 200 BCE and 200 CE in classical India and is
traditionally attributed to the Sage
Bharata. Generally referred as fifth veda.
It also suggest the notion of musical
modes or jatis which are the origin of
the notion of the modern melodic structures known as ragas.
2. Pattachitra is a
traditional painting of Odisha, India.These paintings are based on Hindu
mythology and specially inspired by Jagannath
and Vaishnava
cult."Patta" literally means "cloth" and "Chitra"
means "picture".
3. Nautanki is a famous
folk theater and operatic drama form, popular in northern India especially in Uttar
Pradesh. Its name is derived from the name of the heroine of the play shahjadi Nautanki. It is most
melodramatic and high pitch. Romantic tales are preferred like Laila Majnu,
Amarsinh Rathore and Heer Ranja.
4. The Quit India Movement in
British India had its echo in Kashmir where the Jammu & Kashmir National
Conference had launched Quit Kashmir Movement with renewed Vigour from 28th
June 1938, demanding that Maharaja J&K state should quit the state with bay
and baggage and leave the people of the state to decide their own future by having
a responsible Government.
However the His Highness offered
to sign a stand still agreement with both India and Pakistan aimed at
continuing the existing relationship pending his final decision regarding
future of the State.
5. The Bombay Plan is the
name commonly given to a World War II-era set of proposals the development of
the post-independence economy of India. The basic objectives were a
doubling of the (then current) output of the agricultural sector and a
five-fold growth in the industrial sector. The plan, published in 1944/1945 by
eight leading Indian
industrialists, proposed state intervention in the economic development of the nation after
independence from the UK.
